D3 Remote Treatment Planning
Optimizing the Clinical Application of Technology
D3 provides remote treatment planning services for 3D, IMRT and SRS/SRT treatment plans.
Advanced radiotherapy programs are often constrained by the numbers and types of patient that can be treated due the following factors
- Knowledge deficits in contouring, prescribing and optimization
- Staff shortages for physics and dosimetry, prohibiting high volumes of planning for complex cases; which can take more than 12 hours per plan for optimization
- Physician and dosimetry time constraints prohibiting ability to contour multiple structures required for complex IMRT or SRT plans

These factors often limit the clinical benefits your patients can experience from advanced radiotherapy; and decrease potential revenue gained with leading edge radiotherapy.
D3’s remote treatment planning services can help assure your patients derive the clinical benefits of advanced radiotherapy; and that your clinic experiences the associated revenue gains for advanced radiotherapy.
Flexible Remote Treatment Planning Options
D3 has flexible remote treatment planning options. We can help if you need short term support until your advanced programs stabilize to assist your clinicians with the learning process; or longer term support as needed due to staffing shortages.
Physics and Physician Support
D3 physicists and physicians use advanced web based technology to consult with your clinicians regarding the entire planning process to assure your patients are receiving optimal treatments while your staff learn core planning principles.
Our physicists provide quality review of pre-planning data and consultation regarding planning parameters, to help your staff understand the core components of an optimal plan. Our dosimetry training and treatment plan peer review services can aid your staff in their transition to independent planning.
Our consulting radiation oncologists and neurosurgeons consult with your physicians to facilitate adoption of contouring, prescribing and treatment guidelines to promote a robust, quality advanced program.
Optional Contouring Services
In addition to plan optimization, we can also provide contouring services for normal structures to assist with dosimetry staff shortages. Your radiation oncologist contours the target and specifies the desired target and normal tissue dose volume constraints for use in the treatment planning process.
D3 Remote Treatment Planning – A Collaborative Approach
D3 works in partnership with on-site clinical staff to prepare and provide optimal treatment plans. By creating an efficient and direct work flow process for plan delivery, D3 is able to offer medical facilities a leading approach to advanced radiotherapy at the onset of your program.
Image acquisition and volume contouring are performed locally by the on-site clinical staff. The radiation oncologist specifies the desired target and normal tissue dose volume constraints for use in the treatment planning process. The plan objectives are submitted to D3's centralized planning center via a secure network connection.
D3 staff review the data to assess the probability of yielding an optimal plan. D3 physics staff and physicians consult with your clinical staff regarding changes that may be required to yield an optimal plan according to established protocols. Within 72 hours, D3 prepares an optimal treatment plan that is downloaded by your radiation oncologist for review and final acceptance. Local staff performs quality assurance and delivers treatment.
