D3 Gated Therapy Support
Optimizing the Clinical Application of Technology
The Advantages of Gated Therapy
Gating enables clinicians to apply the benefits of advanced radiotherapy to sites that have been previously excluded due to target movement such as lung, breast, esophageal, and abdominal cancers.

The Benefits of D3
To achieve the benefits of advanced radiotherapy for moving targets, updated technology must be acquired for linear accelerators, imaging and quality assurance. Clinicians must understand the integration of new technology, overcome the learning curve associated with applying the new technology, and integrate advanced clinical practice into workflow.
While vendor training focuses on the operation of technology, D3 focuses on assisting clinicians with the optimal clinical application to improve quality and efficiency of workflow.
Clinical processes that must be modified include:
- Patient selection
- Immobilization
- Imaging
- Simulation
- Contouring
- Treatment planning
- Set up
- Quality assurance
- Treatment delivery
D3 offers a gated therapy program, with optional ongoing planning and consultative services to enable radiation therapy staff to attain the full benefits of the latest technology. Our program enables you to treat patients within 45 days of equipment installation with leading standards. Our implementation and training services enable you to establish a leading program, offering the benefits of gated therapy to more types of patients, more efficiently. A robust program enables your clinic to derive enhanced revenue associated with advanced therapies.
Gated Therapy Program Components
At the conclusion of the program, clinic staff will understand the core clinical concepts of motion management for advanced radiotherapy.
Services include the following:
- Clinic site assessment with recommendations regarding requirements for 4D-CT, gating, immobilization, quality assurance equipment, and network integration
- Implementation project management and consultation regarding procurement, patient selection and optimal network integration between technology components in the clinic
- Provision of gating physics policies/procedures and physician clinical guidelines for treatment
- On-site training for the entire staff. Topics include:
- Evaluation of target motion
- Patient selection
- Use of 4D-CT and gating
- Immobilization
- Core treatment planning concepts for gated therapy
- Training patients to regulate the respiratory cycle during treatment
- Quality assurance
- On-site consultation during the first session of patient treatments to assure principles are applied appropriately.
- Two gated treatment plans following training including D3’s physician and physics consultation regarding the planning and treatment approach. Optional ongoing remote treatment planning is available.
- Consultation by our physicists and physicians for two weeks after the conclusion of training.
